With a parent? I don't understand why, because kids are just going to do it anyway. At least this way they could have a professional do it, instead of self-piercing. But I also see where it would be better to wait until you're 16...Is it true that you have to be 16 to get facial piercings?
I think it has something to do with the amount of growing your body does before age 16, and how that might affect a piercing. Is it true that you have to be 16 to get facial piercings?
In most states you have to be 18, unless accompanied by your parent.
In my state, you have to be 18.
My daughter got a belly ring when she was 16 and a tattoo when she was 20.
I took her for pierced ears when she was pre-k. Her dad signed for the belly ring and we both tried to talk her out of the tattoo.
I pierced my ears, at home, when I was 13-14. It was horrific. I passed out after an infection. My kid wanted pierced ears from the time she could talk. I got her ears pierced when she was about 5. She started on the belly-button when she was 11. We tried to talk her out of it. Five years later, her Dad got a tattoo and she got her belly button pierced. Then she wanted a tattoo. We tried so hard to talk her out of it.
I have pierced ears, her dad has one pierced ear and 1 tattoo. He didn't even get the tattoo until late 30's. After talking, begging and pleading, she got a small tattoo on her hip. She thought about it for years, listened to us and it's not visible, unless she raises her shorts, panties, etc. Her bathing suits even cover it. It's a cute lizard and it will be a gila monster, after she has her first kid.
I would totally freak out over a facial piercing! I hated the tattoo, but it was discreet. She only did the things she knew we would eventually accept. I HATE the tattoo! She did it, I still love her.
If she pierced her nose, that would be a form of self-mutilation and I would see it, every time I saw her. For me, It would be self-mutilation and self-hatred. It would tell me that she hated herself and I was a bad Mom, every time I saw it.
We've talked for years about her piercings and tattoos. Facial piercings aren't fashion. They're not cute, they make a statement. I would be horrified if my daughter got an earring in her eyebrow, anything! I'm kinda liberal and a facial piercing would really hurt! I'm not even very old, just trying to be realistic.
I thank all the powers my daughter didn't put her tattoo in a visible place. That was my major prayer. Any woman with a tattoo on her shoulder, ankle, etc, just looks trashy and it's not fashionable.
Don't pierce a hole in your face. It won't be cool, 5 years from now, and it will be stupid when you're 30.
It's supposed to be with a parent if your under 16.. but I took my sister when I was 18 and she was 13 to get her second hole in her ear.
I guess it depends on who the person is working.
it all depends on the state you live in.. im from wisconsin and it's 18 to get oral piercings (tounge, lip) and it's 16 for nose and eyebrow.. as long as you have a parent with you.
i would just call up a piercing place in your area and ask what the age limits are.
