Why when i do my weekly facial exfoliating regime do i come out in spots?

It seems pointless as i'm doing it to avoid getting spots in the first place...is there any way i can prevent this? the one i use is Estee Lauder it works well and makes my skin feel good and it costs a fortune so i don't think its product i'm using.

Any suggestionsWhy when i do my weekly facial exfoliating regime do i come out in spots?
First of all, ignore evryone telling you to forget exfo (exfoliator) and buy soap or 'wash properly'.

Cleansing the skin alone does NOT take away the top layer of dead skin.

Secondly, you need to be using exfo twice a week, and your spots may be caused by the exfo yes, but it may be because it is drawing out the rubbish in your skin.

For example, i did a facial on my friend wjo has really dull skin, but no spots, and two days later she moaned at me because she had spots.

I told her that all the products (Elemis) were drawing the toxins out that were already there, underneath the skin.

When i asked about her diet, she eats a lot of fatty foods, burgers, fry ups etc.

So could this be the cause?

Without knowing your skin type or what other products you use/how often you use them and your diet, its hard to say if its the products causing it.

If your going to spend a lot on a product, you might as well go for a professional product, such as Elemis, Dermalogica, Decleor etc

This way you could have a facial at a salon, where the therapist will advise you which products to use for your skin. Why when i do my weekly facial exfoliating regime do i come out in spots?
Maybe your skin is too sensitive for these products try like I do simple unfrangrances soaps daily.
Do it daily!

Also any exfoliant will do, don't waste money on an expensive one.
it is because when you exfoliate, you bring the crap to the surface, that is also why if you have a date or an important event you should never do a face mask just before it! x
Perhaps the exfolitor is too harsh for your skin? Try using a masque directly afterwards on your skin, as this will draw out impurities from deep down in the pores. All you are doing by exfoliating is removing the dead skin cells, you also need to clear the pores.

Try Dermologica products. Amazing.
Your skin must be prone to acne. If it is, then you should go nowehere near a scrubbing product. The product will only aggravate the pimples, break them and spread them. You could, however, use products that are mildly exfoliating, such as the ones that contain fruit acids.

No matter what the ';experts'; say, exfoliating granules are NOT for everybody.
Most likely u have sensitive skin,as i do. Go to the dermatologist to be on the safe side i'm sure you don't want to mess up your beautiful skin.
STOP buying expensive products. go to a pharmacist and buy a good facial soap for sensitive skin (you may be getting these spots cause of your skin being very sensitive) - preferably with a pH of about 5. wash twice a day morning and evening, and avoid using oily creams and hopefully your skin will stop breaking out. this worked for me, from what i can see we were having the same problem. try it out? it worked for me so it might for you.
u did not write this gramatically correct?

I wonder WHY,DOT.DOT,DOT.
You may be rubbing too hard and inflaming the skin. I use a baby brush on my face everyday, and it gently whisks away dead cells, maybe the temperature of the water is too hot??? Are you rinsing all of it away??? Maybe there is an ingredient in the product that you are allergic to??
Wash properly instead of buying expensive emolients and creams that blatantly don't work but make a lot of money for the cosmetic industry!! Whuy they have not been done under the Trades Decription Act I will never know!!
i used estee lauder. i now use benefit exfolitor which is much much better. i useed to have the same problem. i think you will find its because you are drawing out the impuraties from your skin, thats why it looks bad for a while. i started my facial regime 6 weeks before my wedding to get my skin in tip top condition and for about 3-4 weeks i looked like an acne ridden teenager again! then it looked great so it must be the same type of thing.
My suggestions would be that maybe you are scrubbing the product in too hard and when rinsing. Otherwise you may just have sensitive skin. I recently tried the new nivea exfoliating pads and they work well and are moisturising too.
stop using it if this happens each and every time u use the exfoliator.

if ur using an exfoliator with irregular shaped scrubs that has sharp edges, it could be irritating ur skin, which causes spots to erupt.

start using one with little round beads like neutrogena invigorating foaming scrub. its less irritating. i use this (and i have oily, acne-prone skin) and it works really well and its veryy gentle. plus it feels good when u massage it into ur skin. :]
