Brown sugar is good but I would probably not use the cinnamon. I don't even know why they would use cinnamon in a facial b/c for some people it's an irritant. Have you seen those lip plumping lipglosses? Some of those have cinnamon oil in them and it's the irritation that plumps your lips up. Maybe, they use the cinnamon to plump up wrinkles then. Personally, I like an aspirin and powdered milk mask to gently exfoliate and make skin look fresher. Take 8 uncoated plain aspirin and a spoonful of powdered milk and add enough water to dissolve them and make a paste. Slather it on and let it dry.(make sure you get it anywhere your pores are large or you have blackheads) When dry put some water in your hands or on a cloth and rub while you are removing it for even more exfoliation, then rinse well. Do it a few times a week and you won't believe how soft your skin is.Has anyone ever tried a cinnamon and brown sugar facial?
Cinnamon is a mild astringent and soothes and cools the skin. ...
But be careful because it is an irritant as well, don't over do it. The essential oil also helps to draw out toxins.
Antiseptic apple and cinnamon facial mask
This mask shows best results when used to treat oily skin. It might be beneficial in problem skin care treatment.
Ingredients:
1 large apple (peeled, cleaned and grated)
1/2 teaspoon of whipped cream
1 teaspoon of honey
1 tablespoon of oatmeal
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Mix all the ingredients until the mass starts looking like a paste. Apply on the face and leave on for 10 minutes. Gently rub the face during while you wash it in order to enhance the exfoliating properties of oatmeal. Rinse off with cold water and gently dry off with a towel.
You don't need the cinnamon. Sugar is like an abrasive and will remove dead skin when you mix it with water. It gives a wonderful facial. Maybe the cinnamon makes the face feel cool.
I prefer the mud or mint pack. I myself wouldn't try that concoction you suggest. I would think they are just trying new things to bring in clients.
I've heard of them but don't know of any benefits to be derived from them. If you are wanting to try something healthy and natural at home, then try an egg yolk facial. Seriously. I was just telling someone else about this. My grandmother gave me this 'old wives tale' secret to clearing up your face.
Get a yolk separator - they sell them at Wal Mart, Bed B and B, etc, and take the yolk and spread it over your face. Leave it on for 10 - 15 minutes. It will seriously tighten your skin up! Also chock full of vitamin E. Remove with warm - hot water and a wash cloth. Do this for 20 - 30 days and the effects will last for months. And you WILL be pleasantly surprised. Amazing results. I did this as a teenager with a bad pimple problem. It worked better than ANYTHING else I did - prescription, over the counter, soap and water, you name it.
Even if you don't have problem skin and just want to improve the smoothness and health, give it a try.
